Deacon Place Renovation

Project Story

Tracy and John needed a new kitchen. Just arrived in Brattleboro, the home they found was lovely, perfectly located, and ready for some updating work. We worked together to develop a kitchen/living/dining area that would elevate their experience of home. With Mathes Hulme Builders and A Gardener’s Eden, we worked to connect inside to out with this flow-through mudroom/entry-kitchen - dining - patio connector space.

The steam boiler was a particular nuisance (needing to be broken down before being put back together, as it was partially replaced by heat pumps), as was COVID-19, which broke just as the kitchen demolition was complete.

Kitchen demolition = eating from a temp kitchen in the basement or eating out.

Kitchen demolition during a pandemic = no eating out.

We are grateful for gracious clients, hardworking construction crews, diligent project managers, and visionary garden designers, who make us look good.
